Denmark Joins EU Nations to Implement New Online Gambling Laws

Denmark recently became part of the ever increasing number of European Union (EU) nations for implementing internet gambling law.   Since it joined, it has released the first list of names of gambling operators who will be issued gambling licenses allowing them to offer online games.

Currently, there are a total of 38 internet gambling operators who have been considered eligible for receiving online gambling licenses from Denmark.  A few of the major online casino operators who have qualified for the new upcoming licenses include PokerStars, Betfair, Unibet, PKR, 888 and bwin.party.

Overall, Denmark has granted 55 licenses, which will increase the number of domain names from where online poker websites will operate to 200.  These gambling licenses were granted prior to Denmark’s new upcoming gaming legislation that will enforce the regulation of online gambling in the country, which is set to come into effect on January 1, 2012.
